Are you a Dartmouth entertainment professional looking for an opportunity to mentor the next wave of Dartmouth entertainment industry talent? Are you a current Dartmouth student or recent graduate looking to make a contact in the entertainment business?

Mentor forms and Mentorship applications are now available for the DAEMA Mentorship Program. Deadlines are fast approaching so APPLY TODAY!

ABOUT

The mission of the DAEMA Mentorship Program is to facilitate opportunities for members working in the media and entertainment industry to share the vast body of knowledge they have accrued from years of experience to nurture the budding careers of the next generation of Dartmouth alumni in those fields. By giving back to the Dartmouth community in this way, mentors have the opportunity to expand their networks and to be further recognized as established members of the entertainment and media industry, while mentees have the opportunity to establish meaningful relationships within the entertainment industry.

HISTORY

The mission of the DAEMA Mentorship Program is to facilitate opportunities for members working in the media and entertainment industry to share the vast body of knowledge they have accrued from years of experience to nurture the budding careers of the next generation of Dartmouth alumni in those fields. By giving back to the Dartmouth community in this way, mentors have the opportunity to expand their networks and to be further recognized as established members of the entertainment and media industry, while mentees have the opportunity to establish meaningful relationships within the entertainment industry.

INFORMATION FOR MENTORS

The DAEMA Mentorship Program is looking for new mentors who would enjoy and feel enriched by helping the next generation of Dartmouth Alumni in Entertainment and Media. During the six months duration of the program (January – July 2013), the commitment of the mentorship is contingent on the mentor’s willingness and availability to communicate with mentees. The new training component is designed to make the experience better for mentors by helping mentees have more realistic expectations of mentoring relationships.

INFORMATION FOR MENTEES

The DAEMA Mentorship Program is looking for recent graduates (less than 5 years post-graduation) or undergraduates interested in becoming professionals and/or furthering their careers in the Entertainment/Media industry. The program offers the chance to make connections with experienced professionals who can answer questions mentees have about their work, experience, and advice for the future.

If you have demonstrated interest in film or television through your classes, activities, and/or off terms, you are highly encouraged to apply. Mentee applications will be available on November 30th, so email mentorship@dartmouthentertainment.com for more info!

During the six months duration of the program (January – July 2013), the mentee has the responsibility to initiate contact with his or her mentor. The goal of this program is to match mentors and mentees with similar interests so that mentors can share the knowledge they’ve learned with mentees who will appreciate and respect the time and effort taken to share them.  Depending on the mentor’s availability and the mentee’s professionalism, these relationships can be as much or as little as the two can and want to make of them.

*Thanks to the flexibility offered by modern communication technology, the program is not limited to any geographic region-- all are welcome to apply.

QUOTES FROM PAST MENTEES

"I really enjoyed the DAEMA mentorship program...it was a great opportunity to interact with a professional who shared both my field of interest and love for Dartmouth"
- Sonia Schnee '09

“I actually just made the move out to LA a couple months ago and I'm not sure I would have had the confidence to do so without the encouragement and guidance of the many Dartmouth alums who took the time to speak with me.”
- Dan Ternowchek '11

"I really liked the program. I think that it's useful in learning to network and learning about the industry. My mentor was great! Even though we weren't able to meet, she recommended a great book and invited me to a conference in New York. A year after the program, [she] also helped me reach alumni for research on a class project"
- Jenny Juares ‘12
